World We Imagine Part 1

Thinking on Jacqueline Novogratz quote from, The Blue Sweater, there are many things that I can think of that would make the world a better place. For one, providing everyone with adequate housing would be a great start. Everyone deserves to have a home. Especially one that has the basic necessities to be called a home. Unfortunately, however, that is not the case everywhere in the world. There are many people that don't have a place to call home. People who don't have a bed to come home too. And that truly is a very sad reality to acknowledge.

Suggesting more ideas, the world could be a better place if adequate healthcare and sanitation practices were provided to everyone worldwide. When I was sixteen years old, I went abroad to Nicaragua for six weeks to help learn and enhance the well-being of a rural community. It was here that I learned that there are a lot of people who lack the knowledge regarding sanitation, and lack access to items that allow for sanitation. As a result, these individuals were more susceptible to illnesses and diseases, and if they were to fall ill the possibility of them having a steady recovery was unlikely considering they lacked access to any healthcare. If the everyone in the world was provided with the right sanitation practices and access to healthcare, then maybe the world would be a better place.

Furthermore, the world could be a better place if everyone had access to the right mental health resources, free of any cost. Everyone throughout their lifetime will face circumstances that might jeopardize their mental health, and having access to resources that could alleviate the stress brought upon by whatever circumstance might just be a step forward in the right direction. If everyone had access to the right resources, then maybe individuals would have a better quality of life considering they don't have to be burdened by whatever struggles they are experiencing. Better yet, they wont have to be burdened by the financial costs that is generally tied to mental health resources.

While all of these options I believe might make the world a better place, I truly believe that everyone having access to the essential resources to survive (food, water, etc.), is a must. In particular, I find that if everyone had access to food, the world would most definitely be a better place. When I say food, I am not talking about just plain old food. I am talking about food with nutritional value that actually nourishes our body. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same access to this type of food.

No one should have to starve. Better yet, no one should be penalized with lower quality food just because they don't have the financial means to afford a better meal. Yet that is how the world works. People underestimate the impact that food can have on ones well-being, but the fact is that of the matter is that it has an enormous impact on our vitality and how we function. It a basic necessity that we should all be granted yet are not. Lets not forget we cannot survive without it

I truly believe that if we all had the same access to nutritional, good quality food, then the world would be a better place. There would be no excuses as to why someone is starving. People would be able to nourish themselves. Individuals would be able to be able to avoid health conditions resulting from malnourishment. People could function properly. The list goes on.

There are may things that the world could stand to benefit from. All these things mentioned could be the step in the right direction, allowing the world to become much better than its current state. The million dollar question is: will these changes ever get the opportunity to come into effect? While most probably won't, there will always be some that will prevail, and with those changes we can hope that the world can indeed become a better place as a result.

  1. Hi Jack! I like the amount of ideas you have. You talked a lot about access to nutritional food, and I think that could be an interesting topic area to explore more. Maybe you could benchmark what current organisations dedicated to providing food security are doing, and find out how you could do it differently, or better? Cool ideas overall though!

  2. Hi Jack, I really like your ideas for improving healthcare options and solutions. To be truly successful, a society must be healthy. Do you have any concrete ideas for nutritional programs in poorer areas?
